God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Sometimes we are forced to look beyond the end of our noses -- sometimes we must put someone else's thoughts and desires before our own -- and when we do, it may be the hardest thing we'll ever do. I didn't read this story as a romance. For me it was definitely a story of love -- love between a man and woman who became the closest of friends and if given t

I really did not like this book for the first 100 pages. Louisa is annoying and whiny and completely dense. As a reader, it's so obvious when opportunities are given to her to connect with Will, the quadriplegic man she's paid to care for, but she is completely oblivious to all of them. She's only overshadowed by how horrible her sister treats her. The plot seemed predictable (and for the most part stays that way). This book has certainly a tough subject matter to read but was so well written and managed to actually make me laugh out loud at several parts. I loved Louisa and Will's wittiness and constant banter, it was the perfect addition to this poignant story. It was hard not to picture what it would be like if you were put into a situation such as Louisa and Will's. What you would do, if you would actually do anything different. All I know is that they both had an incredibly difficult decision to make ...more

Started this book and loving it so far. Unfortunately it was due back at the library before I got the chance to finish it. Hitting pause until I can check it out again! Was able to check this book out again on 11/4 and finished it on 11/8. I thought about this book a lot during the time I was waiting for it to become available again. That's one way I know I've hit on a book I really love, if I think about it when I'm not reading. I loved this book. I love that it was about choosing to take risks ...more

Interesting juxtaposition to read this after A Little Life. Oddly, there are more similarities than I would have thought. However, I much prefer this version. A Little Life is highbrow literature. This is genre romance but it provides more understanding of the issues at the heart of both books - what does choice really mean?
