Rereading this book, the thing that struck me the most about it was the tragedy of it: how people can use you when it’s convenient and you’re throwing extravagant parties (even though they’re gossiping about the host all the while), and then they just forget, and the truth is that they never really cared.

I really enjoy the fact that this book is narrated by Nick Carraway: though he is present while everything happens he doesn’t really play a key part in the plot. In this way he’s kind of the pe ...more
