Stories within stories and mystery piled on mystery. It begins with the dual story of twinship, which created the initial connection between Margaret the biographer and Vida the novelist - Margaret is the surviving conjoined twin who still emotionally feels the connection of her sister because they shared one heart. Vida's story is about twins born out of possible incest (the reader will learn whether or not that is true), and hidden truths that haunt three generations of the Angelfield family.
