If you find that reading is almost as necessary as breathing, then you will find pleasure in the pages of this book. At times it is laugh-out-loud funny but it also causes tears to flow. A.J. Fikry runs a small bookstore on Alice Island. It becomes a place where loving connections are made.
When I began reading this book, I immediately wondered how someone as angry, unpleasant and surly as A.J. Fikry could have any redeeming qualities. However, as I learned the pain of his backstory, I began to understand him. For me, the theme of this book was all about timing, coincidence & learning to love which were all connected to his little book store on the small island of Alice.

What a little treasure.
Wonderful story about love and books. Grieving man's life is changed by a child abandoned in his bookstore. Enjoyed setting on isolated Angel Island and in a small privately owned bookstore.
