Oh. My. God. What an utterly amazing book. I'm almost speechless. The sheer imagination, the detail, the world...I am honestly stunned. I have only just finished listening to this book and immediately went and checked the next book out of the library because I don't want it to end. The mastery of this novel came from the fact the author built up the story so carefully. Unlike almost many other fantasies I have read recently, at no point did I dislike Paige. I am vibrating with suspense. The tension in this book was so elastic; constantly being compressed and stretched. The push and pull between the protagonist and her master or keeper or mentor or whoever he's supposed to be give me the shakes.

I liked this book, it kind of reminded me of some fiction stories I used to read off a fictionpress. I know it got a bit wordy, trying to explain things to me. I'm not sure if all of extra stuff was necessary though. It got annoying after a while. I also felt like I wanted more than I was given for a 400-ish paged book. I'm not sure if I want to read the next one yet. ...more
