I quite liked this book. It doesn't read like young adult fantasy. I think it is straight fantasy.

At first, I wasn't sure about it. But after a while I really got into it. I really loved the "voice" of the main character, Paige. The world building was really good. I got a little confused when she first got to Oxford, but once it got into the swing of things, I got caught up.

I struggled with rating this one and I think it's probably more of a 3 and a half for me but I'll round up to a 4.

Great world building here but there were definitely some flaws that bothered me a bit. Some of those may be a result of it being a first novel. I understand that there are numerous others coming in this series ... the good news, I'll likely give the 2nd a try to see if the flaws were addressed and if it goes to the next level. If it doesn't, I'm unlikely to continue.
