A bit of a curate's egg, this one. It can be enjoyed as a light Buchanesque thriller though it also ties to throw in elements of the alienating effects of post traumatic stress disorder following tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, unbalancing both strands. I have read almost all of Paul Torday's books and have connected to the characters and their various plights and activities. It is a while since I read this one, and can honestly say that I remember very little about the plot. I found it weak in comparison to many of his other novels. ...more
