What Members Thought
I really wasn't thrilled by this novel. I could tell that the story had so much potential to be great, but the writing was lifeless. Maybe this is all to do with the fact that J.R.R. Tolkien didn't actually compose a full narrative of the tragedy, but even the efforts of Christopher are less affective than they could have been. Epic. Such a poignant story from The Elder Days. I had read The Silmarillion version, and greatly enjoyed this stand-alone, more detailed version. The intro and appendices were also helpful and informative.
A must read!!!
