I first read this book years ago in my quest to read Tolkien's Middle Earth stories before the Lord of the Rings movies started coming out in theaters. I do know it was the first book I have a clear memory of reading (there was some series about submarines in 3rd grade I think), and I consider it one of my favorite books. It is a fun and quick tale, which I will read many times again.

This is the book that got me hooked on fantasy books, and the world that tolkien created. Everyone knows the story of the Hobbit and if they dont they need to stop living in a cave. This is a book that you must read before you die.
