What Members Thought

I've read and re-read Tolkien's 'primary' works, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and Silmarillion over the past thirty years. About five years or so ago, I began to delve into the History of Middle Earth series, short stories, and translations of works that inspired him.
It was only this year that I decided to tackle works about him, primarily Shippey's Author of the Century and The Road to Middle Earth.

I always enjoy reading about the lives of my favorite authors. I found this one particularly sad because of Tolkien's courtship of his wife; the willful obstruction of his mentor, a Catholic priest; and his acquiescence to the situation.
