A beautifully illustrated introduction to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings for readers of all ages who can ponder the details of the illustrations to learn more about the stories.

A nice little children’s book created from a poem Tolkien wrote for a friend. It tells the tale of Bilbo Baggins’ final journey to the Grey Havens as described at the end of Return of the King. The illustrations cover two stories lines - his final journey and scenes from his adventures as described in The Hobbit.
For me the illustrations seem a bit dated and old fashioned and the poem is not Tolkien’s best work. Still, it’s a pleasant read.
