Waktu pertama kali ngeliat buku ini, saia kira cerita petualangan ala LoTR ato Earthsea. Abis kayaknya setting medieval epik fantasi gitu. Tapi ternyata, ini buku politik!
Ceritanya terbagi dalam 3 pov. Mas Rao, si putra mahkota yang kena kutukan Shaod dan harus dibuang ke kota terkutuk Elantris. Mbak Sue eh Sarene, tunangan Mas Rao yang mau menyelidiki "kematian" suaminya. I'm not very well-read when it comes to fantasy, but I'm trying to remedy that (Hoping to read WoT, Malazan, and Sword of Truth). I have a stack of Brandon's books on my shelf, but I thought I should try to knock of some of the shorter stand-alones before getting into a series.

A really good fantasy fiction write up. Just taking away one star for making the ending more or less predictable. I'm glad there is a sequel on the way tho. Sanderson tends to make his sequels masterpieces which grow on a very solid foundation laid down by the first book in the series
