well, it hurts to give a Tolkien book only 4 stars!! but lets confess that this was printed for moneymaking.. it's exactly as the title says, "Unfinished Tales" no complete and cohesive narrative. It's for those who are interested in how Tolkien put all his world together and it also gives a background of the land of Numenor in the Second Age and the events that led up to the Third Age, The Hobbit and the LotR. 4.5. This collection gives great insight into many of the stories and mysteries of the First, Second, and Third Ages. I love learning as much as possible about Middle Earth and this book really builds up a deep knowledge. Since Tolkien died before completing all of the legendarium, or at least finalizing it, there are sometimes conflicting notes or illegible notes Christopher Tolkien used in this book.
