What Members Thought

Anybody who knows me also knows that The Lord of the Rings has played a crucial part in my life. I thank my brother, Brett, for getting me involved with Tolkien's world. If he never talked me into reading The Fellowship of the Ring, I don't know if I ever would have jumped into Middle-Earth.

There is so much to absorb in books 5 and 6 of LoTR and once consumed the reader wants more, which is provided by way of the appendices.
I've come to find my favorite part of this volume is The Scouring of the Shire.
The whole of the LoTR is after all about the Hobbits and this single chapter not only shows the near completion of the character development of Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo, but also of the Hobbits in general.
