I just finished my 9th read-through of The Two Towers. Great stuff! The ending is particularly good. My two favorite characters really take form in the last 100 pages or so - Faramir and Sam.
People claim that his read isn't as good as it's predecessor and successor, but I beg to differ. A lot of important things happen in the 2nd book, and a lot of important information is given.

I liked this book so much more than the first. Even in the last half with Frodo and Sam was engaging enough to keep me interested. The characters have become so much more in depth and the story never has year long periods where the characters are just sitting around waiting for something to happen. Over all the pace and character development are what make this book.
If my enjoyment of the series keeps progressing with every book, I imagine that Return of the King could be up their with my favorit ...more
