The more times I read Tolkien, the more impressed I am at his work. I'm always excited when I see his scholarly work in philology cited in some article I read. Recently I was doing genealogical research on ancient Saxon lines, and found that the definitive study of an obscure text on a historical Saxon figure was written by the Don himself. An amazing man. He launched the genre of modern fantasy literature, and most of my favorite authors owe their existence to The Lord of the Rings.

I really loved this book, I first read it when I was 8, I just zipped right through it.
for some people it's hard to get though all the details, but to me it was thrilling!
My dad told me I could watch the movie if I read the book, thinking that wouldn't be until I was 40, I read it in a week, but I still couldnt watch the movie for another 3 years. . .
My friends and family complain of my writing as "going off like J.R.R Tolkien"
but hey, i like it! ...more
