Essential extras for Tolkien enthusiasts. The best bits are the essay "On Fairy Stories" and its companion tale, "Leaf By Niggle", but it also contains the tongue-in-cheek Farmer Giles of Ham and a number of compelling verses straight out of Middle-Earth.

I was pleasantly surprised by this collection of some of Tolkien's short works. Having been a Tolkien fan for many many years, I finally got around to reading this book at the recommendation of a friend and fellow writer.
My favorites out of the collection are On Fairy-Stories, Leaf by Niggle, and Sir Giles of Ham.

This book contains Tolkien's essay "On Fairy Stories" which is very simply the best thing written about mythology EVER. It is truly amazing and better than any other theory I have come across.
