This is an incredibly well-written book. Somehow, the book manages to detail the age-old prejudices immigrants face when coming to America, and chronicle the fresh tale of Nadira and her family as they navigate their lives as both illegal immigrants and Bangladeshi Muslims in a post-9/11 United States. When Nadira's father is arrested and detained at the U.S.-Canadian border, she and her sister Aisha are told to act as if everything is normal - but this is a task much more easily said than done. ...more
