This had a very different feel than the previous novella. Where In a Dark Wood was light hearted and fun (creepy serial killer aside), this one just grabbed me by the heart and squeezed from beginning to end. Lanyon's writing is beautiful as always and he manages to pack so much emotion in 70 pages.

Mr. Lanyon, I have always said that the length of your stories (most of them) drives me to despair. They are too short! But I realised something today (actually have been cementing the theory in over the last few of your "way too short" books). It's not that the story is too short and therefore lacking content because the content is there. And it is there in brilliant efficiency. I think it's one of my favorite short stories from Josh. Somehow this story and the couple work every time I read it.

An excellent sequel to In a Dark Wood. My emotions were all over the place as the two men tried to get back a bit of the magic they'd had, and to overcome the hurt and distance between them. But in the end, totally satisfying.
