Sequel to "in a dark wood". What a gut-wrenching short story this is. When "in a dark wood" ended, I knew it wouldn't be smooth sailing for these two, but the opening of "parting glass" is a real heartbreaker. I had a lump in my throat half way through. Lanyon took me to this difficult journey of "going home" with Tim; I felt a punch in my gut when Luke softly said, "Some things just aren't meant to work out". Luckily, I have faith in both Tim and Luke, and in Lanyon.

The follow up to In A Dark Wood doesn't involve a mystery unless you count the fact that Tim disappeared from Luke's life for two and half years.
Tim has fled to California in hopes of getting his alcoholism under control. He's back in New York for a friend's wedding. Is it kismet that Luke and Tim bump into each other or is it just a painful meeting?
