Adored Kai, such a prickly dude. :-D The look-see into manga/yaoi was interesting, too, provided an intriguing textural layering to the story without dominating it or drawing the focus away from Ryo and Kai (and Mickey).

Ryo Miller, LAPD Homicide Detective is obsessed with Kai Toshiro, a manga artist he has asked out three times, but has been rebuffed each time. Their fates are intertwined when Kai provides an alibi for gang banger Micky Torres.

Definitely Yaoi inspired, which added an intriguing layer to it. I never felt like I really got to know Kai, but that wasn't necessarily a problem. He struck me as a kind of classic femme fatale. There's that classic noirish quality to the story that Josh does so well.

This story is fact developed romance between Ryo, homicide detective and Kai, manga artist. The main storyline wasn't so bad, but to plain. Ryo and Kai fast developing romance felt rushed and a bit forced. I didn't like that part.
