At last, Kit and JX have moved in together. Kit has relented, left his house and moved to San Francisco to share his life with J.X. As J.X. has to go to the annual Murder in Midtown convention to Las Vegas, Kit assumes the task of unpacking and organizing all their stuff. But certainly the dead body which turns up in the china crate does not belong to any of them. The unpleasant surprise is only the beginning of a crazy chain of events which seriously endangers Kit’s life: He becomes the objecti At last, Kit and JX have moved in together. If only Kit was sure he’s made the right decision moving in with J.X…
Oh, God! This was so good. Amazing. I loved every single bit of this book. Kit and J.X.’s relationship has evolved; they are committed, although that is not an easy situation for Kit. He realises how dependant he is on J.X. On the one hand, he is madly in love with him, but on the other hand he is terrified of what may happen if it does not work. Kit is expecting a remake of his relationship with David, and so waiting for J.X. decision to leave him. While trying to make it work, he is at the same time trying to toughen for a possible breakup. Poor Kit! Struggling to keep things alive… Both physically and emotionally. As for J.X., he is as sexy, sweet and understanding as always. He wants Kit to be happy, but he has to understand Kit needs time and … more time. Kit needs all the patience and reassurance and love J.X. is able to provide and then some more. I really suffered for them I expected Kit having second thoughts but I did not expect them from J.X. That hurt! But all is well that ends well…
The Boy with the Painful Tattoo has all the things I love in Josh Lanyon’s books. It’s got a thrilling mystery, likeable characters, moving feelings, a bit of anguish and a sense of humour which had me laughing aloud many times. Together with J.X. and Kit, there are some very interesting secondary characters like Miss Emmaline Bloodworth or Inspector Ishwar Jones. I do hope we get to know more of them in the next books. And I really want to thank Josh Lanyon for the glimpse of Adrien and Jake in the book. I hope it is not the last time we see them interacting with Kit and J.X. Two of my favourite couples together… Woohoo!!
I could not put this book down. I did not eat, did not sleep… I just had to finish it. And as I said, I loved it. There is only one bad thing about this series: Having to wait for the next instalment in their adventures. I can’t wait to know what comes next. Bring it!!!

I really love the Lanyon novels and his style but mr. Holmes really makes me wince with all his whining and doubting and second guessing. Why is J.X. in love with this guy? I don't get to know it because Christopher Holmes is the narrator of the story. Despite a lot of doubts about their relationship they finally move in together. But unfortunately that's still not the end of Christophers's whining (didn't we have enough of that in the first two books??).

I enjoyed this novel very much. Love, love, love Kit! He is my favorite JL character, well after Adrien. I even warmed up to JX a bit in this book.
