I'm always a bit surprised by how much I liked this book. And the thing is generally it would be a big no for me.

This story is so beautifully written. The prose is almost perfect. I was swept away in everything that was happening. It loses a star from me because like so many short stories I would have liked further development of the characters. It fell just a bit short. There was enough scope that it could have made the perfect novel.
