I LOVE action stories. And this had all the makings: guns, rescue missions, hostile forces, SEALs and Rangers, and the wintery mountains of Afghanistan. Add in the superlative writing skills of JL and this COULD have been a winner. But at just over 9000 words, half of which was devoted to a time period 12 years prior, it wasn't developed enough for me. What an amazing novel this could have made.
