A Josh Lanyon classic with murder mysteries, hot cop and vulnerable MC.
Melancholia permeates this story from the beginning. It's like a lazy afternoon when everything slowed and you just closed your eyes feel the breeze on your face and reminisced.
The story seemed to start at maybe 2-3 chapters in, instead of from the beginning. Tim was already in the process of writing his book, he still smarted by Jack's not pursuing the relationship and a few other things.

When Tim's book research of an old, unsolved murder case triggers events that have him a little spooked, he turns to his neighbor, Jack, a detective who slighted Tim after a few dates. I enjoyed the slow reveal of what happened in Tim's past and the ongoing physical, emotional and social effects.
