An enjoyable mystery with a film noir feel. Loved the old Hollywood, with its glamorous facade and somewhat seedy underside.
I liked the main characters, Tim and Jack, although it took me a bit to warm up to them as a couple. The list of possible suspects were fun and the author was able to keep me guessing about the outcome until the end.
When I read it I really liked it - a solid four stars.

This book is clever and the characters are sweet. The writing is strong, and I enjoyed the author's style. It's my first by Lanyon, and I'll read more of his stuff.
The overall story didn't engage me. It didn't exactly feel rushed, but in a few short days, an author manages to be threatened and solve a 50 year old murder case. Books take months to write. Timothy North is writing a book about a 50 year old cold case. The murder of a beautiful actress may involve some of Hollywood's elite and the mob. A tarot card left on Tim's door, spooks him to the point that he asks for help from his ex, Detective Jack Brady.
