Well-written, like most of Lanyon's work. Unfortunately one of the main characters is portrayed as a sympathetic rapist, which is a plot device I can't stand. Really affected my opinion of the story and pretty much killed my enjoyment of it. ...more

Violence and brutality, lies, blackmail and deception. Are these the grounds on which to build a relationship?

JL makes it work. I'm not sure many other people could.

I recommend it, but not if you're too cynical.
