Lanyon really knows how to pack a punch into such a short story.

It was beautiful and touching.
Well, cueSam Harris. The Bonnie Raitt version is better.
'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these final hours
I will lay down my heart and I feel the power
But you won't, no, you won't

A very emotional short story about the unrequited love. Beautifully written and thought out. The characters come alive from the first page. Lanyon doesn't mess around. I like that. Usually, I need more time to develop feelings for my MCs, but found myself involved and caring from the beginning. Plus, it hit too close home. I'm sure, at some point in our lives, many of us had fallen for someone who wouldn't return the feelings. And it hurts like hell to be unloved, rejected, it makes you feel unw

A very sweet story. Graham and Wyatt are camping when Wyatt tells Graham that he loves him during a particularly intimate moment. The problem? Graham has made no secret of the fact that he is still hung up on his late former partner Jase, who died some 3 years before. It is told in 1st person from Wyatt's POV and your heart absolutely breaks for him.

Small but perfectly formed. Bittersweet and heartbreaking, until it's not.

I love unrequited love stories, they're so bittersweet and are easy to relate to. Josh Lanyon did an excellent job with this one. It almost had me in tears since I wanted so badly for it to work out between Wyatt and Graham but it appeared as if Graham wouldn't be returning Wyatt's feelings. I loved that there was some humor injected into such a serious situation, it helped to relieve some of the feelings of worry/heartache for Wyatt.

This was a step away from the usual Lanyon mystery/romance, still I liked it. In some ways it was much more mature than his usual stories. It's refreshing to see him take the plunge toward something slightly more challenging and see him come out victorious as he did here. The story is short, yes, but I don't think it really needed anything more than what he gave us.

This was a brilliantly written short-story that manages to tell the whole tale. Romance, angst, lost love and the hope of happily-ever-after, what more can a reader ask for!
These are the pages in novel that I can't wait to reach!! AND it will definitely be a REREAD!! ...more

Emotions: love, loss, fear, joy, sadness, uncertainty, delight. We all experience them. Nobody embodies them in the written word as Josh Lanyon does. Perfect Day is a prime example of this writer’s talent presented in a beautifully written short story. This is hands down my favorite MM short story -ever. My emotion after reading it: pure gratification.
