Josh Lanyon, as always, delivers. That's what I have grown to expect of his books and that's what he does with this.
The clash of an effeminate and a manly homosexual man during the roaring twenties, a background quite meticulously researched and a gentle ghost story--all perfectly meshed into this wonderful tale.

I haven't read a ton of Lanyon over the past year or two just because their output has been slower (zero shade!) and I've read a lot of their backlog. But my library recently got in a bunch of their ebooks that I hadn't read yet, hence the sudden back-to-back reviews. He gets me everytime! Once again I thought I had this figured out and I didn't, this is the creepest Lanyon I've read yet!

A really entertaining story like all Josh Lanyon's other mystery/suspense romance novels. It has the subtle hints of romance between the 2 MC's when they first meet and as always a great murder mystery case.
My only complaint is that I thought the ending was a bit abrupt. David figures out who the murder is and manages to save Joan, then Julian grandfather meets his end and the story just ends after he makes the promise. It left me wanting more... ...more
