Not a bad read, but not particularly captivating either.
I liked the characters well enough, especially Spain, and I thought the plot was decent, though it seemed a bit more obvious than Lanyon's usual mysteries.
I wasn't a fan of the alternating POVs here. Normally I like them just fine, but here it felt repetitive, and I think the story would have been much better if only told through Spain's POV. I think Doyle's POV murked things up, made everything a little to obvious and explicit, and just ge ...more

I finished this book the other night - well, rather in the early morning hours because I couldn't possibly put it down before having finished it.
That alone should give you a vague idea as to what I think about this book.
First and foremost I want to admit that I've pretty much enjoyed every book by Josh Lanyon that I've read, so far. He writes great mysteries.
This one is no exception - although I'm usually not really a fan of historical fiction.
