What can I say about this haunting story that keeps tugging at my heart and brain? Others have said so much. Laurie is a man of his times who never feels connected to others, yet he connects to two people in his life so far, Andrew and Ralph. One a ideal of purity and one no longer an ideal but a real man. The narrator was good and the story good. My only problem was in trying to figure out what the characters were sometimes saying. Not only is it older British slang/speech, they often spoke of things without actually mentioning what they were talking about. I felt like I needed a translator!

Love this book so much!!! It's so delicate, subtle, beautiful and complex, like a dew caught in a spiderweb....
