Quite simply wonderful!

This book is incredibly beautifully written. I think the writing in the book is what struck me as the best part.
"One great advantage of Arran in winter—you could break your heart with dignity. The rain would take your tears, the gale whip them away from you, and beyond the outskirts of the handful of towns and villages that clung to the island coasts, chances were you’d be alone." ...more

Oh, this was much more literary than your average M/M romance book. I liked the conflict, the characters, the dynamics and the setting was magnificent.
It took longer to read than the regular romance books, but it was well worth the time. Oh, and I like that there was a bisexual character in the lot. It may seem militant, but it was nice to have this author explore bisexuality in such a non-judgmental way. I was very pleased.

This is a book you read as much for the atmosphere as for the plot. Lovely writing. A perfect book for a snowy evening in front of the fire, or when you're trapped inside because of the rain. A slow, sweet-yet-melancholy-yet-ultimately-heartwarming book.
I love Scotland, and this book painted it vividly in my minds eye.
Definitely recommended. Just make sure you have a large block of time to read it. It is meant to be savored over the long haul not rushed through to get to the conclusion.
