Quite simply wonderful!

2.5 stars
Beautiful prose, no doubt about that, but I just couldn't bond with either of the main characters and was rather bored throughout the whole read.

This story is a good length, has a lot of depth, and strongly played, demential characters. Harper Knows the psychology of her character and presents whole, complicated, and utterly believable people, complete with flaws, and strengths. Even the lesser characters are nicely grey and believable. It would have been easy to turn the ex into the bad guy as a plot device, or hide a weak plot behind a deluge of sex-capades. Harper easily avoids both, instead giving us an intact, enjoyable story.

Atmospheric and beautifully descriptive. An angsty love story that satisfies with a full compliment of tragedy, drama, heartbreak, and surprising hope. The two main characters are locked in individual tragedies, and help each other out even though they can't help themselves. Lovely pastoral with great animal characters ( I love well written animal characters.) and, finally, the most compelling character is the landscape.

Beautifully written. I had an accent for a while afterward from reading aloud. First time I've read something where the setting was such a vivid character too. I'm blown away.
