Hemovore is a well written, entertaining book to read. I'm not overly excited about vampire stores, but this one held together for me, largely because of a witty narrator, vivid descriptiveness, and a good suspense plot - particularly in the second half of the book.
But reading Hemovore was a little like leafing through someone else's photo album. Full of beautiful pictures, but of places and people I can't how to connect together. Price paints beautifully poignant scenes with breathtaking brevit ...more

I know other stories have used a similar premise of relating vampirism to a virus, but no one can do it in the same way that JCP does. Wow. I gotta say, again. JCP does NOT disappoint. Always a winner! And the characters are always flawed in such a way, you still gotta love em.
So. This virus thing, well it just so happened to come around after HIV, and is considered WAY worse, with everyone taking extreme cautionary measures to not in any way touch anything or get in close proximity to someone w ...more

3.5. I had to think for a while if I'd give this book a 3 or a 4 stars. I just couldn't choose between the two so 3.5 stars it is.
What a unique take on vampires! I loved the whole concept of the virus and how the world and people over the years adapted to these "vampires". I was really impressed with the world building. The characters were great too: I loved Mark (his POV was fantastic), but I adored Jonathan... the secretive, artistic and sexy vampire. I could understand 100% why Mark fell in l ...more

Okay, At first this book was hard to get into... but that's not correct. I think what I mean is that I was confused by what Mark was doing. Once it became clear about how life changed for everyone, the scope of the story moved beyond a guy with a "few quirks" to a civilization dealing with a major change.

Dear Lord. I’d become a celebrity in the goth-vampire freedom-fighter circuit.
Ha! I'm with you Mark.
Great vampire book for people sick of vampire books. ...more

It is the only work of her that I read and would like to recommend!
A brave new world, were a lot of humans have died of an epedemy is not exactly a new idea, but a vampire living on the blood of cats? That is at least unusual.Like most of her work the story is well written and the romance has to develope, which is very nice.
