What Members Thought
I very much enjoyed this book.
I could feel for both of the MC feeling their self worth diminish because of each of them losing what they thought was the most important and defining thing in their life.
I did feel the musing could have been a bit less, but it didn't deminish my enjoyment.
I especially liked Laurie's mother, not how she behaved, but she is real, she loves him and makes mistakes, but tries to right them, and she loves him.

Another good one for Heidi Cullinan. Laurie and Ed do not start on a good foot, but there is a quick turn and suddenly Laurie is picking up a drunk Ed and eating a greasy burger. Ed's drunken confession changes everything, even if Ed doesn't remember much of that evening. Both of these men are dealing with some pretty heavy luggage and it takes a bit for them to fully mesh together. The last few pages of this book get me every time.

Can't decide if this is a 3 star or a 4 star book.
Normally, I hate reading about performers but this time, it didn't annoy the fuck out of me so I guess that means its a 4 star.
Romantic, with 2 characters dealing with real issues that aren't solved by a magical fuck.
A solid contemporary. ...more

This story is not exactly about dancing. To me it's more like a story about 2 men who trying to make a peace with their unexpected circumstances in their life . Ed, trying to make a peace with his injured body, while Laurie trying to make a peace with his past as a famous dancer. They met, arguing, dancing and then falling in love.

I actually would give this book a 2.5. It should be at least a 4, because the story is very good and I really liked Laurie and Ed. The problem, for me, is the definition of a dance position or movement at the beginning of each chapter. I realize this was an attempt at profound symbolism but I found them contrived and distracting. The story is strong and can stand on its own. I'm disappointed.

I love Heidi Cullinan's books. I really do. This one is not my favorite. I'm glad it's not the first one of hers that I've read, otherwise I probably would not love her work as much as I do.
I didn't connect as easily with Ed and Laurie as I usually do with her characters. I do like that Ed was secure with his sexuality. Most gay jocks are not written as such. I like that he and Laurie took their time building their relationship.
