A wonderful addition to the series. I loved that Kit is starting to push himself a bit as far as the relationship with J.X. goes. He recognizes his sometimes irrational reasoning and is actually trying, although not always successfully. J.X. is the perfect, laid back foil to Kit's prickly, grumpiness.
As usual, whenever life gets a bit comfortable for Kit a dead body shows up to add some excitement. Add in Kit's "biggest fan", J.X.'s extended family, a new house in a new city and Kit's growing d ...more

I loved it! Kit and JX are learning to live together and grow closer, though there's probably more work to be done here. I have never seen one person make such a big deal over 5 year's age difference.
I hope Kit gets his writing sorted out to his satisfaction, whatever it is.
And I totally want to move into that house, though not in SF.

I reread and re-listened (wonderfully done audiobooks!) to the first two books in Josh Lanyon's Holmes & Moriarity series just before the release date for The Boy with the Painful Tattoo, and that makes me inclined to reread this one again, maybe even this week. And I'm smiling, a lot, because TBWTPT's audiobook comes out in November.
These books are absolutely worth the rereads. I find new favorite lines or passages each time. That is to say, that there are unexpected depths to these romantic c ...more

Kit was growing up. Sort of :D
In this third installment of Holmes & Moriarity series we finally get to see Kit and JX relationship as they set up home together in San Fransisco. To be uprooted from his home, feeling uncertain about his writing carrier, and scared out of his wits over his feeling for JX and whether they would last... These combined with the dead body found in his china box and fan-stalker had Kit on emotional and exhausting roller-coaster adventures.

I enjoyed this continuation of Kit and JX's (mis)adventures with mysteries that they stumble upon--this time literally in their basement.
Overall, I found this a nice, speedy, light read. (And was a light enough read to work as a nice distraction from life stress.) Kit was *a little* TSTL at times, and even though he got himself out of that peril, I was just as frustrated with him as JX was at some points in the story.

Kit and J.X. are back and moving in together! However things do not get off to a smooth start when Kit finds a dead body in one of his packing crates... Cue Kit investigating what has happened in spite of himself! J.X. does not approve.
The murder mystery plays out at a good pace, and is interesting, as you find out more about the characters involved. If this isn't enough for the reader, Kit also gets himself a stalker! Plus, Adrien English and Jake feature, which was a lovely surprise.

Another excellent narration by Kevin R. Free. Josh's stories are made even better by it.
