This was well-read, but more of historical interest to me than personal reading enjoyment. The narrator did a nice job with most of the characters. (I found only one slightly grating.) The contemporary (set in the 1930s) mystery is less intriguing than the mystery of what happened 20 years before. The story takes place between World Wars and knowing what these characters have already been through and what they will be facing in the near future was more affecting than their current dilemma.
