After being disappointed with the last few novellas by Josh Lanyon, I must say with this novel, he bounces back into my life, with flying colors. Yep, this is the familiar territory, the familiar kind of setting that I come to love from Mr. Lanyon. Endearing characters, great mystery, and one intense relationship between Elliott and his ex-lover, Tucker, in the backdrop of city like Puget Sound, Seattle ... that is just one hell of a ride.

Elliott and Tucker's relationship rings resembl

I actually read this book last year when it was first published (I think it was last year, anyway), and Josh Lanyon quickly shot to the top of my 'must buy' list. Normally I have a hard time with mysteries because I'm an impatient wench and must must MUST read the last page of the book to see if I guessed everything right, but in this case (I'm generalizing, and applying this rule to everything by Josh Lanyon because it's not all mystery) I have to say the plot and the characters are so interest ...more

Re-read via audio version.

I didn't like this as much the second time. It was still good, but wow did I find Elliot annoying. Probably because it's the audio and I didn't skim (which I'm sure I did when I read it the first time). The narration didn't help. The narrator didn't do a very good job of making the MCs have distinctive voices, so they'd be having a conversation and I'd have no idea which one was talking. It was especially confusing because there was so much of Elloit's inner monologue,

A good murder mystery, but I have to admit that I didn't warm to Elliot and Tucker as I do normally with Josh Lanyon's couples.

A good, page turning tale nonetheless.

Re-read 3/11/17 - I decided to listen to the audio again to get ready for the release of Fair Chance and I enjoyed it so much. The story is so darn good. And I really like the MCs (though Elliott can be a little dense sometimes ;-)). I don't love the narrator though. He just reads the book and doesn't make distinct voices for the MCs which can make it confusing.

4/19/13: 4.5*
