4.5 stars. Well crafted, tense and very funny mystery in Albany, NY in the late 70's/early 80's. Deft portrait of the gay community at that time.

A solid mystery, the development of the relationship between Don and Tim highligthing the conflict monogamy/open relationship, the usual humor, also directed towards the homosexual community and some of their more dogmatic leaders: all of this makes an excellent book. I also loved the presence of two elderly lesbians: we wish now more diversity in m/m books, but this was first published in 1984!
