A hard one to rate. It's good. Well written with mystery and tension. Depth. It fits it's time homophobia, racism, AIDS. Everything felt real.
I like Rios, he's a flawed but interesting character, good at heart.
But the theme of child molestation is a dark one. If it has to be included in fiction I want justice. Here it felt incidental to the main case.

My favorite of the Rios books so far.

This was outstanding. Unfortunately it isn't a romance which is what I was looking for, but I'm really glad I listened to it.
This is set in the 80s when HIV and AIDS was ravaging the gay community and has an important but seldom on-page character who is HIV positive. There is also off-page child molestation and discussion of it.
The mystery is fantastic, and I didn't see the twist until Henry revealed it. I enjoyed everything about the legal procedures and the investigation. I loved Henry. I wi ...more
