How I wish the books in this series didn't end so abruptly! Other than that, I very much enjoyed the solid characterisation, the realism in the dialogue, the sparks of humour, the camaraderie between Dave & Cecil, between Dave & Amanda, and all those precious moments where Dave's humanity and compassion shine for both his loved ones and the strangers he meets during his investigations.
