What Members Thought

Re-read, it's been awhile. The intensity is as I remember it. Nik we know is secretive and lies but Ben also makes for an unreliable narrator, capable of being coldly professional but not fully cognisant of his own emotions. Both men are damaged and seem to fit together. The book is in three parts and they work as separate if linked stories.

BR with Cat!
2.75 stars, rounded up.
This was a tough one to rate.
The first half of 'Love is Stranger' is a mess. Odd writing, a lot of telling and very little showing, silly plot-lines, and very little to make Ben and Nik interesting, aside from being told that they were spies. I thought about DNF'ing a couple of times.
But, the second half was good. We finally get to know who the main characters really are, and what makes them tick. The plot becomes more interesting and bad-ass, instead of the f ...more

Discovering Nik and Ben's gorgeous yet maddening relationship through this book is a huge treat. A few pages in and I had to one-click the rest of the books in this series on Amazon. So many times I had to hold my breath while reading, went back to reread some of the passages, confirming that yes that was how I felt before moving on because this book is such a fast-paced emotional roller coaster full of twists and turns. John Wiltshire has a distinct style of writing that doesn't dwell much on t

This book started off painfully slow. I get a little annoyed when books start off already in the middle of the "romance/relationship." (which this one did)
So, I was immediately put off by the story. That and the first few chapters are super disjointed. I put this book down and decided to leave it be for a bit.
I picked up "Love is a Stranger" again 3 days ago, and this time, with an open mind...I could not put it down.

Very well written, great twisty plot, good suspense, even some great hurt/comfort. While the characters are very interesting, I really can't say that I liked them much and I'm not sure about continuing on with the series. However, it seems that MANY people love the later books in the series even more, so I might give number two a try.

This was bloody brilliant.

Lots of plot, lots of smut. I could've done with a lot less of the latter. The plot and characters are interesting enough that I want to continue on with this series.
