What Members Thought

...."there was not one ounce of superfluous flesh on Sam
Kennedy’s body. He ran every day, rain or shine, boxed,
lifted weights, and worked out regularly. He watched his
diet, did not smoke, and only drank to excess on
weekends—which he rarely took, so that was moot.”

The book felt, in some way, short. Like it could take a bit longer time to things to simmer. But then everything fits with the way it concluded.
The *meat* of the story, the investigation, was mildly intriguing. I had a vague interested in Vermeer ever since I saw "Tim's Vermeer" documentary. I could pictured some of the paintings mentioned in the book in my head as Jason talked about them. That certainly enhanced the experience.

3.5 rounded up.
Another good update to the series! The mystery was okay, but it didn't really grab me and seemed a little rush/superficial. I'm continuing to enjoy Sam & Jason's relationship, and I'm glad that Jason's started pushing back against Sam keeping him at arm's length, but I wanted a little more from it. The ending isn't quite a cliffhanger, but it ends before we get any real/meaty resolution, which I'm really hoping we get more of in the next book. ...more

Jason. Jason. Jason. 😒
I love this series! I enjoy the mysteries - especially the art aspect and the interesting things I learn.
I am a sucker for relationship drama but yeah Jason I’m giving you the side eye dude. I’m standing with Sam in this instance.
I love the feel of this series. It’s different from other books and I can’t name the feeling. I like the way the mysteries are laid out. I enjoy being in Jason’s head - his day to day actions - seeing his process for solving his cases and his of ...more

January 2022 audiobook review.
This book packs an emotional punch. Still my favorite Josh Lanyon series. The audiobook is excellent ... definitely, does not disappoint.
_________
I am oddly conflicted about this book. While I enjoyed it and I am enjoying this series very much, I struggled with the conflict that the author introduced in this particular instalment. I do understand that a certain amount of tension is required for character and plot development, but the drama, in this case, came with a ...more

Drama, mystery, art and amour. What's not to love?
Another gripping installment, another mystery i couldn't piece until the end. Though really, what's up with the drive by? Tension between Sam and Jason, just the right amount of heart string tugging. That serial killer though? Like a fine seven course meal consumed way too fast, U can't wait for the next one! ...more

I never would have thought I would enjoy any series by Josh Lanyon more than the Aidrien English Mysteries, but I was wrong. The mysteries that Jason and Sam investigate in The Art of Murder series are always gripping. This book involves Jason getting involve in a stolen Nazi treasure that seems to implicate his beloved grandfather. The relationship between Jason and Sam always seems bumpy, but considering their jobs, distance, and personalities it makes sense things wouldn't be easy. I think th
