Sorry girls, I can't. I give up. I tried to force myself to finish, I really did. I wanted to give a fair assessment ... but it was too cheesy/cringe-worthy for me. A 40-ish senior secret service agent with 12-years experience that acts more like a moon-eyed teenager? As well as a delusional and almost ridiculous talk of US policies ... which with the current situation during Trump administration just made me SMIRKING all over the place?? Yeah. Big. Fat. No.

It took me a while to read this, it had its ups and downs, but overall I did enjoy it. There's a lot going on, some of it stretching belief, but I'm a big fan of the action movie genre so I have no problem allowing the plot to bend reality a bit if it leads to some good explosions, betrayals and action scenes. Plenty of politics, a treasonous military maniac bent on running the world and trying to figure out who was with him and who was against him in the President's inner circle kept the story ...more

A political-action-adventure story as good or better than a lot of best-sellers, and with a gay MC/hero. Lots of intrigue, disasters, and (mostly off-page) blood and gore. Some improbable scenes (like the Oval Office climatic scene), but a great distraction from RL, even though the plot takes off from possible outcomes of RL current events. Happily moving on to books 1.5 and 2.

This was great. It literally had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. When they finally got together wow, they were so hot and so sweet. I'm really looking forward to seeing them again and to see how their life is working out. Not really going to say more than this, I don't want to spoil anything. Read it you won't be disappointed. I love finding a new author especially when the book ends up being really good. ...more

This was a crazy action packed political romance. The improbability factor is high, but it's kind of like a summer action movie, where I'm just fine going with the story and not worrying about pesky reality butting in. :-D I loved the slow burn friends to lovers romance between Ethan and Jack and Jack's realization that he's in love with Ethan was really well done. The action/thriller aspect of the story was well done too. Seeing all the different storylines converge as everyone figured out who ...more

This didn’t work for me. It was very slow-moving and tilted too much toward political soap opera rather than political thriller. It was hard to believe a U.S. president & secret service agent would behave this emotionally. That’s just not the temperament you’d find in men with these kinds of jobs. I couldn’t buy them obsessing over their relationship like teenagers while dealing with serious world issues. I quit when I got to the part where Jack joked to a stranger about being Ethan’s boyfriend. ...more

1) Riveting story. Couldn’t put it down. This author knows the ins and outs of the white house and the presidency. In addition, it was a great love story!
2) I lost a lot of valuable sleep because i couldn't put this book down. It was fast paced, detailed, and intriguing. I don't even like politics and had my eyes burning because i didnt want to blink away from my eReader. The author did an excellent job of bringing the read

I did not expect to be swept away by this book. I am not usually looking for political thrillers. It came highly recommended and now I can see why. It is a political thriller, with lots of action and a wonderful romance too. It definitely had some edge of your seat moments and a few where I had to set the book down only to rush back because I had to see what happened next.
The book does leave us set up for the next in the series, so not a cliffhanger really but definitely open.

Really good. I glommed all the books in about a week. The series could use some copy editing, checks for consistency, and research, and each book is about 100 pages too long. But overall? Cracktastic.
