Spectred Isle didn't start pack up and running for me until around 25% or so.
Despite having read The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal, I found myself quite confused with the world-built in the beginning, it seemed like too much history has happened before the book started; too many players being dropped on me without any introduction. It is always a big issue for me when it comes to paranormal/fantasy book. I'm not really a visual and imaginative person. So I kind of need t ...more

When I read the blurb, I didn't realize this book set in the same universe of Simon Feximal/Robert Caldwell's story. Honestly, it gave a (sort of) melancholy effect, though I decided to focus more on this mob of Green Men with their myriad capabilities and peculiar cases.

***audio version review***
I thought this book was fabulous. I found the story enthralling, the characters interesting/sympathetic and often very funny, the dialogue crisp (and also often funny), and the audio narrator did a splendid job.
Truth time: I picked this book up when it came out a couple years ago, and for some reason didn't get past the first chapter. I don't know why. It just didn't grab me that day. But I picked up the audio version "just to try" and sped right along happily.

A truly delicious read. People talk about the role of the occult in WWII, but what about WWI? In the aftermath of the war, Raymond Glyde, an occultist and Keeper, keeps meeting up with Saul Lazenby as Saul researches Geoffrey de Mandeville for his employer. Soon it becomes obvious the meetings are more than coincidence. What is the Shadow Ministry, and why does Raymond dislike it so much (and why are they so interested in Saul?). The two men find that their continued accidental meetings become a

Even better the second time around. I listed right after re-reading The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal, so everything was fresh in my mind. I can't wait for more books in this series!
