Not for me. I had a really hard time believing many of the key elements of this book. I thought it highly improbable that a 40+ Mennonite farmer/widower would be so okay with turning his back on pretty much everything he has ever known. And there were several scenes that felt out of character and the writing style was at times distracting because it didn't quite "fit" with the story. I am such a big fan of this author's books. I haven't read a book I didn't like. I loved the changes that the two main characters went through and how how perfect they were for each other. I like a good May-December romance and the struggle to work out same sex attraction with religious beliefs. ...more

I so enjoyed this book! Both MCs were interesting characters and I was absorbed in their story. There was just enough conflict/angst to keep things interesting but nothing overly dramatic, which is a line that I appreciate not being crossed.

This was trending toward a five star read until the last twelve to fifteen percent when suddenly unnecessary violence was introduced that didn't work with the rest of the book nor improve the story in any way. The only thing it did was end the book sooner than it should have ended. Until that point this was a really beautiful, gentle story and one of Easton's better books.
