This book kind of flip-flopped for me from like 2 stars, to 4.5 stars, then back to like... 2.5-3 stars.. so I'm settling on... 3ish. Maybe 2.5. I don't know.

This book was kind of cute. It used some terminology that I'm not familiar with that made me feel really fucking old at the ripe old age of (almost) 25. This book creeped the hell out of me, or rather the rave ratings did. It's the third book this year which screams loud and clear "underage kids" and definitely "kids" and not youths able to make their own decisions. The protagonists came over as children, not as youths.

18-year-olds playing with plastic action figures? Seriously? I'd have problems believing in a 12 or 13-year-old into puberty doing this. Sure, the occasional nerd here and there, and Tony DiNozzo is adorable when he goes on about

This review is basically one big recommendation.

This book should be read because it is such an important piece of young adult literature. From Brandon, our M.C 's POV we are effectively shown how religion has the power to confuse, oppress and instill fear, especially in young minds. This is a journey of making choices, becoming oneself and growing up sprinkled with quirky inner dialogues that make the book all the better.
