Oh gods. I'd love to write a review of this book, but I sincerely don't know if I'm capable of doing so. Do I have the ability of describing all the various, mystical, complex aspects of the story — myths, symbols, elements, visions, prophecies? How can I make others to see the bright spectrum of emotions the author put me through? Can I even begin to convey the intensity of this book? Where do I find the words to best describe Harper Fox's soulful, vivid, unique voice?

Combining the realism of a contemporary with the more fanciful elements of mythology can be tricky but I think it's handled well here. You just have to dive in, accept the premise and enjoy.
The writing is lovely as always. I really liked the backstory about Michael's father and John's mother and I appreciated the chance to see the guys in an ordinary domestic relationship without all the creepy darkness that plagued them last time.

Considering that first book worked for me up to a point it was a thriller and lost me with introduction of supernatural elements, sequel that's entirely supernatural and filled with mystical stuff was a dud for me.
Everything I liked about first novel: the fact they are operatives in supersecret organization, mind control, a kid brother who is brilliant and set against authorities....it's not present in this novel.
Just two guys brought together by destiny to fulfill a prophecy their parents cou ...more

This series is very much not your typical Harper Fox. I'm sure there will be people who read it based on her name and are disappointed, but I really liked it; John and Mike's strong relationship is enough of a counterpoint to the gritty darkness of the plot that it never crossed the line into "too depressing for a Romance novel" and the ending is a HEA.

While I loved the first part to pieces, this one just didn't do it for me. Too much confusion, to little comprehensible motive in any character, an unnecessary long prologue that could have been one third of another hero's story... *sigh*
I wanted to love this story so much. I only really got into it in the last 25% when something actually happened. And I'm not really a fan of New Testament mythology but that's not something the story can be blamed for. *another sad sigh* ...more
