I had read a lot of great reviews for Best Corpse before I started it so I had high expectations. As you can see from my OK rating, it fell short for me. The writing style was fine and the book seemed well edited. I liked the small, private British school setting from a teacher's perspective (isn't so different from our own as a former teacher). It was also interesting how shootings have affected schools in Britain. Lots of elements like these give the setting a very real feel for me. I also lik ...more

Hm, the romance between Schoolteacher Adam Matthews and Inspector Robin Bright was a bit bland and developed truly slowly, which is understandable considering their roles in this book. The mystery criminal case was enjoyable enough, to be pulling, but nonetheless nothing special.

The characters seemed interchangeable and flat, told not shown. Same with the romantic arc. Why would these two be interested in each other other than being the only single gay men in the story?
