I just finished this and am kind of overwhelmed by how happy it makes me to read another of Josh's books, one that is such a good fit to my taste in mysteries, in writing, in romance. It's like this amazing gift to his readers. Yes, I figured out (along with many readers I'm sure) a major plot point, but not the how and why of it. And that made it so worth the journey.

For once, I did know the mystery since the beginning (I'm not usually that good), even if I didn't know who was the culprit. But to me, that wasn't a spoiling of the enjoyment of reading the story, cause there were many points I deeply appreciated, two out of them, the love story and the setting.
The setting was faboulos, and considering I love that Gilded Age atmosphere, and I usually try to visit at least one of those villas each time I'm in the US, I was fascinated like Griff by the architectu ...more

4.5 stars. One of Lanyon's best with twisty turns and psychological undertones. Great characters, great mystery.
